Mathematics 2C

3. session

Tuesday 23. February 2010
Auditorium M1.80

Program

09:00-10:20
Lecture on the last part of section 1.2 and section 1.3 in Lay. We start at the subsection, Solutions of Linear Systems. The first 3½ pages of section 1.3 are known to you from the Mathematics 1B course.
10:20-10:45
Introduction to the exercises.
10:45-12:30
Exercises in groups.

Exercises

Lay section 1.2 page 41
Exercise no. 1, 3, 5, 33, 7, 9, 11, 13.

Applications

In computer graphics, parametric curves called splines are often used. See the Spline Applets by Tim Lambert for examples. Systems of linear equations are important for finding spline curves satisfying various properties. Exercise 33 above gives a simple illustration of this.
